IN a stunning announcement, the BBC have commissioned a new series of Life On Mars.
To be entitled "No Line On The Horizon" - named after U2's 2009 album - the series is about a rough and ready policeman who goes into a coma in 1979.
On 22nd April 2009 he awakes from his comatose state. Amazingly, he watches in bemusement as the Britain he knew from 1979 (thought to have gone into a permanent coma at that time) also re-awakens.
The BBC press release admits such a conceit requires a lot of belief to be suspended but - hey -this is fiction, right?
In the first episode the main character looks to complete the world he knew by seeking out a vintage pair of loon pants, a fondue set and a pristine Austin Allegro. He also receives an invite to a party at Abigail's.
In episode two he decides he can't be bothered and leaves the country.
The end.
